Seeds of Change® and Earth Day. It’s only natural.
Seeds of Change® began making organically grown seeds available to gardeners and farmers 20 years ago. Creating our own lines of organically certified foods quickly followed. Along the way, we’ve worked hard to encourage countless others towards healthier, more environmentally friendly lifestyles. A host of activities and events has been planned in honor of Earth Day that are sure to inspire change around the world. For us, we’re most excited about all it’s inspiring in our own back yard.
Rallying Around the Cause
For starters, we’re rallying all of our associates to tell us what steps they’re taking to effect change, and give us ideas on what we can further do to make a positive change for our environment. Many of our associates already carpool regularly into the office, but for Earth Day we are asking all our associates to synchronize their schedules with others who live in their area and carpool for one day. We’ll be holding a special educational session for everyone on the exciting changes taking place at our research farm.
Developing An Organic Green Thumb
We’re also issuing an organic growing challenge to all our associates. While most of us are consumers of organic food, not all of us possess that organic green thumb. We will be holding an organic herb growing contest to run over the spring and summer season.
Supporting Our Community
We are supporting a local community garden with land donated by the City of Garden Grove. This organic garden was started by the Hug-A-Tree Club from the Orange County High School for the Arts as their project C.A.R.E (Creating Awareness in the Restoration of the Environment). It will be used to provide environmental education for elementary schools close by. It will also be open to Senior Centers to offer a healthy environment and serve the people with freshly grown plants. For nearly 40 years, Earth Day has been inspiring change to improve the environment. For 20 years, Seeds of Change® has been doing the same. Both serve to prove that if one day can make a difference and one organization can make a difference, one person can certainly make a positive difference in the world as well.
